About The Practitioner

Gisela Mendoza Sànchez, LMT

Hello! I'm glad you're here.

Gisela Mendoza Sànchez, massage therapist at Ya'axché Massage Therapy

Gisela is originally from Nicaragua. She has been in Seattle for seven years after living for more than half of her life in California. While living in California, she became greatly interested in the power of touch after helping with her ex-partner's grandmother's death process.

Gisela became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in 2016 after completing 750 hours of intensive training at Discovery Point School of Massage in Seattle. Her passion for bodywork started after experiencing her own injuries from strenuous physical activities such as road biking, long-distance mountain trekking, and doing repetitive movements.

In 2010, Gisela obtained a Master's in Public Health, and before becoming an LMT, she worked as a health researcher. Her research mindset has encouraged her to incorporate new information to support massage techniques that help her clients ease body aches, adjust postures, and increase relaxation.

Her main focus is fascial massage therapy. After seven years of practicing massage, she found that this modality of gentle stimulation of the superficial fascia produces long-term results. She is also trained to practice intra-oral massage, therapeutic breast massage, pre-natal and post-natal massage, Swedish massage, abdominal massage, sports massage, hot stone massage, and cupping therapy. She is certified with the U.S. Chapter of the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) to teach new parents how to give massage to their babies.

When not working, Gisela is spending time on her wooden boat, reading, resting, cooking, doing Pilates, gardening with her partner, and spending time with friends.

Gisela holds WA state license #MA60621546
