Gisela's philosophy

Gisela's work is gentle, slow, deep, and profound. She is an advocate that healing can be gentle. Her work with fascia is focused on easing into a healing process to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and get rid of harmful muscular patterns. These patterns can be caused by poor posture, repetitive movements, and physical trauma from new or old injuries.

The needs of her clients come first. Gisela believes that therapeutic touch interconnects the physical, physiological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of us as human beings. In the past seven years of practicing massage, she has developed an awareness of the importance of a safe space of inclusiveness, nurturing touch, kindness, and deep listening to support clients from all walks of life.

Creating the conditions for an effective physical and somatic dialogue with the client's body can address the cumulative effects of fear, stress, and anxiety. Gisela is committed to supporting her clients through these experiences and welcomes all dialogue — physical, somatic, and verbal — on the massage table.

Gisela likes working in partnership with her clients to create a treatment plan that supports effective care. This includes open conversation and adjusting a treatment plan as needed. True collaboration between massage therapist and client happens when they are open and listening to their body's awareness and willingness to heal. Each body is unique, and each person's healing process is different. Gisela feels that her clients are gifting her a new experience with each session; she learns from each person.

Gisela's teachers and mentors

Gisela is grateful that she has had the opportunity to be trained under many amazing massage therapists, including Dawn Schmidt, Michael Dennis, and Michael Hamm. They all encourage her to continue to be curious and to think like a true researcher, incorporating new findings into her practice. She has the greatest gratitude to all of them for being inspiring and real about how fascia is a dynamic system, as research continues to discover more and more about this connective tissue matrix.

She is grateful, too, for getting support from her colleague, La'Tina Rainwaters. She is a solid rock in encouraging her to open her own practice and to bring healing into our community.
